BUILDERS CLEANING INSIGHTS

Pre-Handover Cleaning Checklist for Builders

A successful handover starts before the cleaning team arrives. The best results come from a clear sequence: trades finish their work, defects are identified, waste is removed, and the final clean is scheduled with enough time for a quality check.

Before the cleaners arrive

  • Confirm all dusty cutting, sanding and drilling work is complete.
  • Remove tools, packaging, offcuts and trade waste.
  • Make sure power and running water are available.
  • Share access details, alarm instructions and the handover deadline.

Kitchen and joinery

Cabinetry should be cleaned inside and out, protective film removed, benchtops detailed and appliances polished. Pay special attention to sawdust in drawers, adhesive residue and marks around handles.

Bathrooms and glass

Check tiles, grout, shower glass, mirrors, tapware and sanitary fittings. Construction dust often settles on ledges and behind doors, so these areas need a deliberate final check.

Floors, windows and finishing details

Vacuum before mopping, clean window tracks and frames, wipe skirting and door edges, and remove paint spots only with surface-safe methods. Finish with a slow room-by-room walk-through in natural light.

Booking the clean early gives your project team time to resolve defects and present the property at its best.
